Bezier Mesh Surface V0.5

Bezier Mesh Surface V0.5

thingiverse

Experience the ultimate Bezier curve surface in OpenScad, featuring thickness without requiring a massive number of granules to render objects. The updated Bezier functions help deal with meshes better; the BezierMesh module takes four Bezier curves and generates mesh triangle patches representing the surface. However, version '0.5' contains bugs that affect calculated surface normals and create cracks between rows. Release it for users to identify issues and contribute improvements, as optimizations can be made in the BezierMesh module. Separating Bezier coefficient calculations from general point-on-curve calculations would enhance efficiency. Future updates will separate 'render' stuff for granules from core drawing, enabling custom renderers for different behavior. A blog entry on this topic is available at http://williamaadams.wordpress.com/2011/05/19/mr-beziers-new-perspective/. Users are encouraged to download OpenScad files, load 'demo_bezmesh.scad', experiment, and fix bugs for an improved experience.
