In bevel gears, the tooth-bearing faces of the gears have conical shapes and the axes of the two shafts intersect. These gears are typically installed on shafts that are at a 90-degree angle; however, they can also be designed to operate at other angles. The pitch surface of such gears is shaped like a cone.
