Betsy Cabinet Shelf (VCU_3D_3314)
sketchfab
This intricately crafted wooden shelf was salvaged from the historic shipwreck Betsy (44YO0088), which lies submerged in the York River near Yorktown. The vessel, part of a British fleet intentionally scuttled in 1781, has yielded a treasure trove of artifacts, with this shelf forming a vital component of a china cupboard that once adorned the captain's quarters on board Betsy. Securely fastened apertures held delicate ceramic vessels firmly in place even as the ship rode out turbulent seas. This remarkable shelf was meticulously 3D scanned using a Go!Scan 50 on February 23, 2018. The Virginia Department of Historic Resources generously provided access to this invaluable artifact.
