Beta casted Mendel parts
thingiverse
This text presents a parametric version of Mendel parts using OpenSCAD models. Tim Schmidt's models (http://github.com/timschmidt/parameterized-mendel) were utilized, and the remaining parts were recreated in OpenSCAD after the original STLs. This allows for the creation of STLs with adjustable hole sizes that fit perfectly on a 3D printer. No drilling is required. Some parts were modified to make them easier to pour without affecting functionality. Modified parts include the z-leadscrew base and z-motor-mount, y-bearing-360, and x-barclamp_m3. The timing belt pulley was adapted from Erik de Bruijns' design, while the x- and y-axis pulleys were modified versions of a Thingiverse design (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3104). All temperature-sensitive parts were tempered to withstand 100° ambient temperature before casting. More information can be found at www.ifeelbeta.de, and the set is available for purchase at www.2printbeta.de. Users can also create their own using the provided files. The 7-zip file contains all necessary files for printing, pouring, casting, assembling, and enjoying the Mendel parts.
