In northern Israel, at the base of Mount Gilboa, lies Bet Alpha, a synagogue dating back to the sixth century CE. This ancient house of worship boasts a magnificent Mosaic featuring three distinct sections and a dedicatory inscription that proudly lists the name of its creator. The scenes depicted on the Mosaic are vividly detailed, telling stories that captivate the imagination: Isaac's binding, Helios soaring through the heavens in his chariot, accompanied by the zodiac and the four seasons, and finally, the sacred ark of the covenant majestically flanked by two gleaming menorahs.
