The attached STL files represent my original design for a reliable 3D printed paracord break away. It connects and breaks smoothly, withstanding repeated disconnections without failure. Created in response to free versions that consistently failed, this design ensures secure connections while allowing easy separation with sufficient force applied. Developed specifically for use with 1/8" and 1/16" paracord, it can be adapted for any cord type. To assemble, simply pass the cord through the hole and tie a knot at one end. For 1/8" cord, work the knot in slowly to avoid compromising critical features on the inner part. I have successfully printed and used this design for connecting bracelets, necklaces, keychains, and other items that require secure yet detachable connections. When printing, PLA is recommended but any plastic will suffice. Each component prints easily with the cord side facing down, preserving its integrity. For optimal results, use a brim to maintain attachment to the build plate. Standard speeds and a 0.15 build height yield completed parts in approximately five minutes each.
