Best Desk Organizer
thingiverse
The problem I intend to solve is people having disorganized desks that prevent effective learning. I have to sketch and create a 3D version of an object that will help keep students organized, especially during this time of online school. I believe the design I make will keep desks clean and make learning easier. ------------------------------- After finishing my design my desk organizer functions as a place to keep pens, pencils, and other supplies. The cone shape is designed to wrap wires around. The front of it can be used to place a book, notebook, folder, or paper. The shelves around it can be used to store smaller supplies like erasers, paper clips, post-it notes, etc. I even included a place for headphones to sit on or be wrapped around. What issues did you come up against? Some issues I dealt with were coming up with accurate dimensions for the object in real life. My first attempt at this was not successful, and I found that out after trying to use the dimensions in cad. The main issues with dimensions is that they were too small and couldn’t hold the objects they were made to (post-it notes and headphones). I adjusted them accordingly using cad and am now happy with the result. If you could redesign this again what would you change? If I could redesign my desk organizer, I would personalize it for myself more. I could make a pattern, change the color (purple is my favorite), and maybe even add my name. I designed it according to problems I had, and assumed others had as well. I wanted the design to be user friendly and appeal aesthetically to the majority of people. I also would have wanted it to be a little smaller so it could fit in areas where people had less space. Also make the drawers be able to go in and out. How would 3D printing help strengthen your design? 3D printing would bring my design to life. Testing and re-evaluating your design will offer more iterations to modify and tweak your design. 3D printing would launch my design out of the prototyping phase into the testing phase. I could create exchangeable add-ons and more customized pieces. Having the organizer in real life would help me realize possible mistakes and see if the components I made actually function as I hoped. A prototype could also be used to show others who are interested in the design and even print it for them if needed. My problem was ultimately to help others and I could do that by giving them the 3D version for their workspace.
