The attached STL files are my original design for a strong 3D printed paracord breakaway that connects and breaks smoothly. They've proven themselves durable when disconnecting, offering a smooth connection and a good pull separation point. I created this design because the free versions available online were not up to par, often printing poorly or failing easily under tension. This version is designed for both 1/8-inch and 1/16-paracord but can be used with any type of cord. Simply pass the cord through the hole, tie a knot, and adjust slowly if necessary on the inner part. This design has been put to practical use connecting bracelets, necklaces, and keychains, but it can also be applied to any situation where two items need to be connected by a cord with a breakaway option. It prints quickly and easily in PLA, and while other types of plastic will work as well, the process remains relatively simple. Print the cord side down to preserve critical features, and consider adding a brim for secure attachment to the build plate. With standard speeds and a 0.15-inch build height, each part can be printed in just five minutes.
