Bernina Record 830 Type 290 Foot Control 3D Printed Replacement Cover

This is a replacement cover for the type 290 foot control on later model Bernina Record 830 sewing machines. The original cover had broken clamshell clamps and a damaged tab that dragged the carbon tracer pin carrier up and down, while the carbon tracer pins themselves were also broken and needed to be replaced. The new cover comes with a removable and replaceable tab for the tracer pin carrier, which is secured in place with a small screw. A mistake was made earlier by using M4 heat set inserts and screws instead of the correct M3 inserts. To minimize post-printing modifications, it's recommended that you use M3 inserts from the start. To install the inserts, simply press the top with a hot soldering iron and push down until they're flush with the top of the hole. While the insert is still hot, gently use a screw to align it so the screw is vertical. Be careful when removing the cover as the tab is delicate and can easily break. However, it doesn't show the detail of getting the carrier for the carboon tracer pins in and out of the foot control base. To access the carrier, you'll need to remove the retaining clip for the circuit board that contains the pin contacts and microswitch.
