Berks County, Pennsylvania Cabinet Made Beautifully by a Skilled Craftsman in the 18th Century This exquisite piece of handcrafted furniture is a true masterpiece, created by an anonymous American artisan during the 18th century. The cabinet's sturdy frame is made from high-quality painted wood, measuring an impressive 81 inches wide, 60 inches tall, and 21 3/4 inches deep. In elegant script, a significant date is inscribed in the center of the cornice: "17 Philip Detuk 75". This enigmatic notation adds to the cabinet's mystique, leaving historians to ponder its meaning. The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens proudly acquired this treasure, thanks to the generous support of Jonathan and Karin Fielding, who made it possible for this exquisite piece to join their collection in 2018.
