bent-axis axial piston pump

This model has a cutout, so you can see the important moving parts. This is unfortunately not an actual hydraulics pump, but all the correct parts are moving. Required for assembly: all printed parts, four 3x10 mm screws and two 4x16mm screws.

hold the “plate” with the flat side down and drop all 8 connecting rods and the drive pin through their corresponding holes.

push the “driveshaft” onto the back of the connecting rods and the drive pin. Make sure the screwholes on the side of the driveshaft line up with the two holes on the plate and all 8 connecting rods and the drive pin. The plate should have a friction fit with the drive shaft, but the drive pin and all connecting rods should rotate freely and move like a ball joint. Screw the plate to the driveshaft with two 4x16mm screws.

fit all 8 pistons onto their connecting rods, be careful! The fit is extremely tight and its easy to brake the connecting rod. The top surface of both parts should line up.

most difficult part: fitting the cylinder drum onto all 8 pistons and the drive pin. This step can be very finnicey, I suggest letting all pistons and the drive pin hang straight down and lining up 1 piston and the drive pin, then the rest will also fit. The pistons should easily slide into place.

insert the previously assembled parts into “housing #1”, make sure the extrusion on the plate lines up with the gap in this part, otherwise it wont fit together

fit the cylinder drum into “housing #2”, its a loose fit. The angle between the driveshaft and the cylinder drum is what makes this a bent-axis axial piston pump, and what makes the real thing work. Screw “housing#2” into “housing#1” with two 3x10mm screws

screw “housing#3” into “housing#2” with two 3x10mm screws
