Bendy Phone Tripod and Stabilizer A versatile, bendy tripod for any size phone that can be easily transformed into a phone stabilizer. The phone mount features two modes: Tripod and phone stabilizer. The base and connector pieces are designed to be reused, allowing you to attach other devices like small videocameras. For universal printability, all parts fit within a 100mm x 100mm x 100mm printer. Check the What to Print and Post-Printing tabs for printing, assembly, and use instructions. Tripod The tripod is designed to be flexible enough to position your phone or small camera perfectly in any environment. It can easily be modified to fit a GoPro, for example. The tripod legs are remixed from giufini's PCB Workstation with Articulated Arms, while the foot is a fully closed bulb shape. Stabilizer The stabilizer uses gravity and a simple gimbal system to keep your camera steady when you hold it and move, resulting in smoother video. The stabilizer is remixed from artobot's Crazy Simple Camera / Phone Stabilizer, with modifications to fit with the base of the tripod. Video comparing footage with and without the stabilizer shows improved performance with about 1/4 lb of weight underneath. Print Settings Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 10%-20% Notes: Supports are required for the lips on the phone_mount_bottom and phone_base, but everything else prints fine. Printing the single-part feet at 100% infill adds weight to the bottom, enhancing stabilization. Post-Printing Assembly Remove any support material thoroughly before starting. Phone Mount Two small rubber bands are needed. Loop one band through each hole in tripod_phonemount_top and around itself for security. Slide tripod_phonemount_top onto tripod_phonemount_bottom and pull the band around the pegs. Once a phone is inserted, they should hold it tightly. Glue tripod_connector into the recess on the bottom of tripod_phonemount_bottom using superglue. Tripod Insert the three tripod_leg_keys into their holes in tripod_base or stabilizer_base (stabilizer_base has holes for the gimbal system). Sanding may be necessary due to tight tolerances. Gluing these in place is suggested. Snap the tripod_leg_joints on and end each leg with a tripod_foot. Do not glue these. Slide the assembled phone mount into the base. Stabilizer Insert stablizer_inner_ring over stabilizer_base, ensuring it clicks into place. Repeat this process for stablizer_outer_ring. Connect the stabilizer_handles to stabilizer_outer_ring using the stabilizer_handle_pegs. Not gluing these allows for easier storage, but adds strength if glued. (Optional) Add the stabilizer_extenders to the legs. Use The stabilizer should be removed when not in use, as it obstructs the tripod. When attaching it, start from the top by sliding out the phone holder assembly. Add stabilizer_extenders to increase leg length and efficiency. Another way to add weight is to wrap the legs around a heavy object. What to Print Tripod 1x tripod_base (optional) OR 1x stabilizer_base 1x tripod_connector 1x tripod_phonemount_bottom (print this part laying down for added strength) 1x tripod_phonemount_top 3x tripod_leg_key 3x tripod_foot_top and 3x tripod_foot_bottom OR 3x tripod_foot_whole Roughly 18-30x tripod_leg_joint, in multiples of 3 Stabilizer All the above (need to have printed stabilizer_base) 1x stablizer_inner_ring 1x stablizer_outer_ring 2x stabilizer_handle 2x stabilizer_handle_peg (Optional) 3x stabilizer_extender
