Bender Hobby Knife Holder
thingiverse
I've been dissatisfied with the cap on my Fiskars Hobby knife since I first purchased it, prompting me to seek out a replacement. I also wanted a sturdy base for my desk to securely hold my knife in place. In search of suitable options, I explored several alternatives before deciding to modify Menissalt's original pen holder to suit my needs. To adapt the design, I had to significantly reduce its size and add a more substantial "head plate". Shrinking it posed a challenge, as there wasn't enough sidewall behind the teeth and eyes. To address this issue, I incorporated additional material into those areas to ensure smooth cleaning. Furthermore, I designed a specialized "socket" specifically tailored for my knife, which would fit snugly inside Bender's head (as depicted in the accompanying cross-section image). After refining the design through several iterations, I finally achieved a satisfactory result. The socket now provides a satisfying "click" when my knife is inserted and maintains an optimal level of tension, ensuring it stays securely in place.
