I love building model sailboats, and my latest project is a miniature replica of the classic America's Cup yacht, the Beneteau First 30. I'm using a combination of basswood and balsa wood to create the hull, which will be painted in a rich, deep blue color reminiscent of the ocean on a sunny day. The sails are made from lightweight Mylar, and I've added intricate details such as brass rivets and a miniature anchor to give it a realistic look. When completed, this little sailboat will sit proudly on my desk, its white sails billowing in the gentle breeze created by my computer's fan.
