Benchy benchy holder/display stand

Benchy benchy holder/display stand

I began to... collect a bunch of benchies as they are my test print of choice for new filaments. I wanted a way to display them, so I made a benchy holder made of a benchy hull.Technically, if you upscale this print, you could fit the normal size of this print on the upscaled version....ad infinitum (Hint: This benchy holder is exactly 6x the size of a normal benchy.... So.... if you scaled it up by 6x again...)"It's benchies all the way down."The top of the benchy is made to simulate stormy ocean waves as if the fleet of benchies is sailing it. I made it in blender. I also included the blender files if you want to edit them yourself.I split the print in half so it's printable on smaller printers. (They connect via spring clips so they "snap" together.) I've also included a full version for those of us lucky enough to be able to print it in one.Credits to the benchy model go to the benchy 3d site of course.https://www.3dbenchy.com/TipsMake sure you use enough top and bottom layers or you'll end up missing some of the upper skin under where the benchies sit. (As one of the comments mentioned below.) I think I ended up using 4-5 top/bottom layers to be sure. You could probably get away with at least 4-5 top layers only since the bottom won't be seen! How I Designed ThisI took the benchy hull from the benchy site and then generated some waves in blender and added them on top of the benchy hull, then I put a bunch of benchy shaped holes in the top so you can put your benchies in there securely.Category: 3D Printing Tests
