Benchtop Powersupply

I built this power supply for my electronics projects. I mostly used modules so there is no need for building circuitry, the parts just need to be wired together.

The case is designed to be printed on the Prusa MINI.

List of materials:

4 banana jacks

24V 8A SMPS

2 10 kohm potentiometers

2 500 ohm potentiometers

4 potentiometer knobs

100V 10A ammeter and voltmeter (like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003626996290.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2deu&spm=a2g0o.search0304.0.0.11155ae8NCrp8C&algo_pvid=9a9e0044-229b-45ce-882f-6fe42f0b2bec&algo_exp_id=9a9e0044-229b-45ce-882f-6fe42f0b2bec-1)

300W step down convertor (buck convertor) with adjustable voltage and current limit (ex.: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32807052041.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.1cb54f02DkYZAn&algo_pvid=faf4564a-77d8-4f66-96a6-5db7ff998594&algo_exp_id=faf4564a-77d8-4f66-96a6-5db7ff998594-6&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2210000001106053546%22%7D&pdp_pi=-1%3B2.63%3B-1%3B-1%40salePrice%3BUSD%3Bsearch-mainSearch)

5mm LED

270 ohm resistor

on/off switch (SPST)

fuse holder

fuse

AC power plug connector + AC power plug cable

USB A breakout board

5V power adapter

M4 fork terminal crimp connectors

5.5mm ring terminal connectors

snap on terminal

stranded wire (thin)

stranded wire (thick) - from AC cable, for example

heat shrink tube - different diameters

flat head M3 screws

endseal terminals

screw terminal block

Tools:

soldering iron

flux and solder

wire cutter

wire stripper

terminal crimper

screwdriver

pliers

Printing the case

I used PLA+ for all the parts.

The front panel requires a filament change so that the text is more visible.

If anyone wants to add some changes to the model, I have also attached the .f3d file for it.

Assembling the electronics

After desoldering the trimmers and bicolour LED from the buck converter, the circuit of the power supply can be constructed by following the schematic:

^attaches as PDF in files tab as well

I have to add that I am not an expert so won't assume any responsibility for possible mistakes in my design.

I hope that this project is somewhat helpful.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section.

I wish you ‘Happy 3D-Printing and Building!’
