My test track is only 10 feet long, so I decided to create a set of rollers to test locomotives. You will need: Standard 608 8x22x7 "skateboard" bearings with precise tolerances and smooth rotation. If you want to harness power from the track, a thin piece of K&S brass #815026 1/32" x 1/8" strip stock can be bent into an "L" shape and inserted, as shown in the diagram. These rollers are designed for use on their own but perform better when set atop a length of track or press fit onto 1/8" x 1" bar stock for added stability. The "Sloppy" version uses 8.5mm pins to accommodate cheap skate bearings from eBay that have a larger inner diameter, ensuring they fit loosely and smoothly on the pins.
