BENCH REST FOR COLLIMATIONS

I originally designed a bench for resting during collimations, incorporating iron tubes and hoping others would comment on it. The structure stands out due to its adjustable height feature and use of trade hardware. It rests on articulated feet with a diameter of 100 mm, ensuring stability despite the potential lack of coplanarity. A magnetic leveling tool is provided for assistance. The front wheel, made of milled aluminum, moves along a worm screw that allows height adjustments of 0.5 mm per 90-degree rotation. Friction is minimized by a brass fifth wheel. The screw has a groove for manual tightening using a plastic handwheel. Two plier-like brackets, made from economical and easily available polymer, slide on rails and attach to either the forend or the stock with cockerels or flyers. A sliding tube length caliper is adjustable in height and holds the calcium mounting bracket. The pliers open up to 50 mm and serrate up to 10 mm for both front and rear sections. It would be interesting to test whether the pliers should remain supported on the bottom rail or stay suspended, considering their size. A cylindrical surface support might also be possible. The shape of the front end of the pliers could differ depending on whether they grip the barrel or the stock, with potential for customization on the gun for optimal effectiveness. The bench weighs 18 kg, and the tray adds an additional 14 kg when stacked with gym weights (2.5 kg each). Both are made of rubber, offering versatility in weight adjustments. The total weight is 62 kg. That's all for now. Stay tuned for updates!
