Bench/Desk Vice
thingiverse
This MakerBot-printable desk vice design can be improved with metal additions for increased strength, suitable for light tasks. The vice's head may be shod with metal for enhanced functionality. The design is adaptable to various bolts, including those from a hardware store or printable threaded versions (seeking Sketchup thread-making advice). Untested, the two main halves fit together as shown in the diagram, utilizing a nut with Loctite on the bolt. Printed halves allow free spinning of the bolt initially; a glued nut serves as a thread for adjustment within the second half. The crank attaches to the bolt's head for operation. Three STLs and SKP files are included (Plate 1: first vice half, Plate 2: second half, Plate 3: crank in two pieces).
