Ben Tairbeirt shieling-huts T4 & T5

Along Benn Tairbeirt on South Uist, roughly halfway up, a cluster of five bothain-airighe structures stands out, each boasting its unique character. This southernmost pair sits side by side in the sheltered lee of a small escarpment. The escarpment itself boasts two deep, protected clefts that were likely used as produce clamps. The smaller structure on the left might have been added later as the family grew or possibly served solely for dairying purposes.
