Halfway up Benn Tairbeirt on South Uist stands a cluster of five unique bothain-airighe structures, each boasting its own distinctive flair. Notably, this third dwelling takes shape as a common subrectangular form found throughout Uist - a bothan-airighe partly set into an elevated earthen mound. This mound may well represent the lingering remains of a pre-existing site that supplied some or all of the masonry used in constructing the bothan-airighe.
