Let's Get Started with a Simple 3D Model You're about to begin creating a basic building, and it will be a great way to get familiar with the interface of SketchUp. You'll learn how to use the various tools and techniques that are used in this software. Your goal is to create a simple house, so let's start by drawing the floor plan. Open up a new file in SketchUp, and then draw a rectangle on the ground plane using the Draw tool. The rectangle should be about 10 feet wide and 20 feet long. Next, you need to add some walls to your building. Use the Push/Pull tool to create walls that are 8 feet tall. You can use the Line tool to draw a line along the edge of the floor plan, and then select the Push/Pull tool to create the wall. Now it's time to add a roof to your house. Select the entire building by holding down the Shift key while clicking on each face of the model, and then click on the Roof tool. Choose the gable style for your roof, and set the overhang to 1 foot. Finally, you can add some details to your building using the various tools in SketchUp. Use the Eraser tool to remove any extra geometry from your model, and then use the Paint Bucket tool to add some color to your walls and roof. That's it! You've just created a simple house using SketchUp.
