If you're reading this, chances are good you have a Wanhao and are familiar with how its belt rubs against its bearing blocks. Before starting on an enormous print project that I've been working towards, I wanted to tackle this problem first, opting instead to find a more elegant solution than leaving it as is. Earlier today, while exploring possible answers, I discovered another sophisticated design that employed ball bearings to resolve this very same issue; unfortunately, however, after finding it the first time, I never was able to track it down again. Fortunately, all of my ABS printing requirements were taken care of when I found this solution. Since this solution uses ball bearings, I had a bunch lying around from another project, with diameters 10mm on the outside and 3mm inside. So far, so good – what if, you know, we used them to do something a little more useful? I decided it was worth looking into, then asked myself why not take this as an opportunity to try to figure out the entire mechanism of using those very ball bearings, specifically those of a 10mm OD and a 3mm ID? In fact, what I'd found was a pair that were suitable for just this job. M3 screws seemed perfect - so they did have a pretty handy function. So why not make an update to address this problem once and for all? Well actually it wasn't difficult because the very same parts are the exact ones that needed modification, therefore the changes made aren't any different at all. This V2 would actually put the bearings right in line or you can go with my solution and run a dual setup instead. And just to give you something a little simpler - so people could make up for a substitute ball bearing using nothing other than hot glue and a 2.7mm screw – I went on to Thingiverse and searched out this exact problem until someone made it for everyone’s convenience - there isn’t any better place. Below are the things needed for these parts: You will need: Ball bearings with an outer diameter of ten millimeters and an inner one of three millimeters. Two M3 screws One of these ball bearings. Also a printed part Additionally some hot glue The last step to be done in completing this thing was the actual task itself, it went something like this: -Print up both parts according to your preferred printer - hopefully with as few if not at all extruder temperature issues during print that will result from not enough material on your build platform. Next would be tapping of 2.7mm holes for mounting these M3 screws which have become handy in the making Use this simple hot glue and then push on to insert it in any bearing space and press firmly on it once it starts to enter - there is absolutely nothing much difficult here. A small dab of glue after the ball-bearing is pressed down – a good option at hand now if only because we all love making parts using hot glue for all things such as fastening.
