
Belt Drive - Single Belt Connected With 7 Pulleys

Power is transmitted from one shaft to another through a single belt drive connected to seven different pulleys. The power transmitted between a belt and a pulley is calculated as the product of the difference in tension and belt velocity: P = (T1 - T2) * v, where T1 and T2 are the tensions on the tight side and slack side of the belt respectively. These tensions are related by the equation: T1 / T2 = e^(μ * α), where μ is the coefficient of friction and α is the angle in radians subtended by the contact surface at the center of the pulley. Pros and cons: Flat belts offer a simple and effective way to transmit power, but may be prone to slipping. Rope drives are often used for heavy-duty applications, but can be noisy and prone to wear. Round belts provide a smooth and quiet operation, but may be more expensive than other options. Spring belts are designed for high-speed applications, but can be sensitive to vibration. V belts offer a high power-to-weight ratio, but may be limited by their capacity. Multi-groove belts provide a higher load-carrying capacity, but may be more complex to design.
