Belt Clip - Sporty's JD-200 & SP-400 Aviation Handheld Radios

This is a DIY belt clip for your Sporty's JD-200 and SP-400 handheld aviation COM and NAV radio. Pilots often carry a spare handheld radio in case the electrical system fails, allowing them to stay in touch, especially in rented or shared planes. Sporty's radios also feature an OBI, enabling pilots to use VOR beacons for in-flight navigation and line up with runway localizers on ILS runways. The SP-400 even offers glideslope capabilities. Sporty's shop sells a $10 + shipping metal clip accessory for their radios but I prefer not to spend the money when I might damage it. I want to be able to attach my radio to my headset bag, lower leg cargo pocket or collar more frequently than to my belt, and have the antenna up if needed in a power outage. Piston planes are equipped with magnetos like lawnmowers so even without alternator and battery power, spark plugs will continue to fire, keeping engines and most instruments running albeit without lights, radios or avionics. This untested design should be close enough that if necessary you can simply bore out the screw holes or grind no more than 1mm of plastic. You may need to add more plastic to the top side of both the base and clip for the spring to exert pressure against. Remember to print and verify the screw hole placements accurately, and don't forget to acetone/ABS glue the leverage pad to the base if you decide to make this. There is no warranty; I'm not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from this design. My older Sporty's JD-200 radio has markings indicating that a belt clip assembly requires 2x M3 screws, extending no more than 3mm into the radio, meaning no more than 3mm of thread should protrude from the clip assembly.
