Bellerophon and Pegasus
myminifactory
Table support found in the Ancient Agora in Athens features Bellerophon on his winged horse Pegasus attacking the Chimaera. The Chimaera was a monstrous creature from Greek mythology born of Typhoeus and Echidna, brother to Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. It had a lion's head and body as well as a goat's head attached to its back and a tail that ended in a snake's head. In Asia Minor, specifically in Lycia, it ravaged the land with fire breath until Bellerophon, aided by Pegasus, killed it at King Iobates' request. Riding on Pegasus' back, who could fly, Bellerophon shot arrows from above to defeat the Chimaera. This object is part of "Scan The World".
