#Bell X-1 ##Faster Than the Speed of Sound The pursuit of breaking the sound barrier started in late 1945. Less than two years later, Charles "Chuck" Yeager became the first person to fly at speeds greater than the speed of sound, reaching Mach 1.06 on October 14th, 1947. The aircraft he flew on this record-breaking flight was designed and built by Bell Aircraft Corporation. And it was designated X-1. ##The Model This is a 1:72 scale profile model of the Bell X-1. This model consists of five simple parts that can be printed on any 3D printer with at least a 160mm square build plate.
