The Bell UH-1B Iroquois, popularly known as "Huey," is a versatile utility and medivac helicopter produced for the US Army in the mid-1950s and massively built during the 1960s. This single-engine turbine aircraft, first entering production in 1960, served extensively throughout the Vietnam War and beyond. Its roles ranged from transporting troops to evacuating wounded soldiers under fire while some were armed with machine guns, rockets, and other weaponry for gunships. Over 17,000 units were manufactured, making it a significant military asset. The UH-1B was an early version of the Huey, but many enhanced versions followed suit, with some still in production today. This aircraft could accommodate up to ten troops or six wounded soldiers.
