The Bell UH-1B Iroquois, commonly known as the Huey, is a single-engine utility/medevac helicopter that first took flight in the mid-1950s and entered production in 1960. Used extensively during the Vietnam War, it was equipped for combat, transporting troops and evacuating wounded soldiers under fire. Some were even armed with machine guns and rockets to serve as gunships supporting other Hueys. Over 17,000 of these versatile helicopters were built in the '60s, with many variations continuing in use and production today. The UH-1B was one of the earliest models, capable of carrying up to ten troops or six wounded soldiers.
