The Bell UH-1B Iroquois, also known as "Huey," is a turbine-powered utility and medevac helicopter initially built in the mid-1950s for the US Army. It entered production in 1960 and served throughout the Vietnam War. Over 17,000 were produced during the 1960s for military use in the US. The UH-1B was one of the first versions of the Huey, with subsequent improved versions being developed and some still in production today. The helicopter could carry up to ten troops or six wounded soldiers, while some were armed with machine guns, rockets, and other weapons for gunship support.
