The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, colloquially known as Huey, is a single-engine turboshaft military helicopter equipped with two-bladed main and tail rotors. Intended for medical evacuation and utility purposes, it was designed by Bell Helicopter in 1952 and made its maiden flight on October 20th, 1956. Production began in March 1960, marking the UH-1 as the first turbine-powered helicopter for the US military. Over 16,000 units have been produced globally.
