Bell (Nao)
thingiverse
The "Bell (Nao)" from the Western Zhou dynasty (circa 1050-771 B.C.), dating back to the 11th or early 10th century B.C., is a significant piece of Asian art. With a height of 16 1/2 inches and a diameter of 11 3/8 inches, this bronze bell is part of the Lucy Maud Buckingham Collection (1924.243). Displayed in Gallery 131b, further information about this historical artifact can be found at http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/artwork/12086?search_no=2&index=0. For those interested in reproducing this piece, consider printing the image and removing the base before creating a mold for bronze casting. If you wish to take it to the next level, follow Andrei Rubelov's style by digging a hole in the ground, crafting your mold there, and then casting the bronze – just like in this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyi3diimL_8.
