This text is essentially the backstory and features of "Fabber Mk1," a customized version of Makerbot's CupcakeCNC. The creator describes how he started building Fabber Mk1 due to unavailability of parts for CupcakeCNC, and over a year, he enhanced its features like the larger build area (165x175x170mm), warp-free large builds with heated build platform, computer-less control via LCD and keypad, smoother Z-axis movement by ACME threaded rod and guide rails, and easy homing/centering through endstops on one side of each axis. The frame and sled are primarily sourced from McMaster-Carr, though non-metric parts are used due to availability issues in American hardware stores. A YouTube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKoIKgk9Grc) introduces Fabber Mk1, and build instructions can be found on the Wiki (http://github.com/revarbat/Belfry-Fabber/wiki/Build-Instructions). The SVG file is for laser cutting with 0.008" kerf, recommended to cut from 1/8" tempered hardboard or MDF.
