Begode Master Seat Addon
thingiverse
A seat addon for the Begode Master. As a seasoned seated rider the first thing I noticed when I rode seated on the Master is the low sitting position, it felt like I was being back on my old MSP with knees up in the air in full circus riding position which isn't super comfortable on your legs or on your back. So I designed this seat both to raise the seated position and also to make it even more cushier than the stock seat foam pad. This seat is 7cm high from the base but the idea is that you print it with a cushy enough infill so that it will compress a bit when you sit and thus make seated riding very comfortable overall. Seat is attached with velcro to on top of the foam cushion, see photo for example. The idea of having a small hook in the back where you can attach a string that is also attached to the wheel comes from myself off-roading frequently, if you drop the wheel in certain scenarios it's possible that the seat will detach from the wheel and a string will make it so that it doesn't roll away from your wheel for example down a hill, this is purely optional and doesn't have to be used at all. This is a long print and it took me a lot of prototypes (and filament) to find what I think are the optimal print settings to get a good balance between firm and soft seat, see print settings below. A note about infill for this seat: It was very difficult to find the sweet spot for perimeters and infill for this seat to make it comfortable but also firm enough and I ended up with a neat compromise in Cura, of course you can experiment yourself but beware that it can take a lot of printing to find your sweet spot. - Option A (Preferred): I use Cura so I can't tell how to do this in other slicers. I set the infill to 5% Gyroid but then I use an infill mesh for a large part of the seat to make that part 7% Gyriod and 1 wall to separate the two infill areas, see attached screenshot for example, this is important to make the seat both firm and cushy at the same time as they top part will become softer than the lower part. With this option you will only be using 2 walls but 3 top/bottom layers for more durability in those areas. - Option B: Make the whole seat 7% Gyriod infill, this will make the whole seat firmer than option A and not as cushy. With this option you will only be using 2 walls and only 2 top/bottom layers to not make the seat too firm due to wall thickness, with only 2 bottom layers take great care when removing the supports as to not make a hole in the outer perimeter, if you damage the outer perimeter don't fret you can fix that by putting some silicone over it. Cura Fuzzy Skin for texture: Cura has this neat function called Fuzzy Skin which can make the outer layer texture, not only does it look great but it also provide more grip on the surface of the seat. My settings are: Fuzzy Skin Texture Thickness: 0.3mm Fuzzy Skin Texture Density: 3.0 1/mm Fuzzy Skin Point Distance: 0.3333mm
