Max Klinger (February 18, 1857 – July 5, 1920) was a German artist known for his work in Symbolism, sculpture, printmaking, and writing. Born in Leipzig, Germany, Klinger studied art in Karlsruhe, where he developed an appreciation for the etchings of Menzel and Goya. Skilled and imaginative engraver skills quickly followed as he began creating sculptures in the early 1880s. From 1883 to 1893, Klinger lived in Rome, Italy, immersing himself in Italian Renaissance art and ancient history. This model was produced by Oliver Laric's initiative "threedscans," a project focused on image hierarchies.
