<h3>Slumping Beer Bottle Mold to Create Fun Serving Tray</h3> This mold enables the slumping of a small beer bottle in a kiln, resulting in a unique serving tray for olives, peanuts, tapas and more. Do not use as an ashtray - it's hazardous to your health. <h4>Instructions</h4> <ul> <li>Print all four parts <li>Assemble the bottom-parts and sides using clamps on a stable surface <li>Mix fine plaster with cold water to create a fluid mixture <li>Pour the mixture into the mold <li>Tap the mold's sides to eliminate air bubbles <li>Allow the plaster to dry (after an hour, remove the sides to speed up drying) <li>Carefully remove the two bottom parts <li>Let dry further - you can even put it in the oven with your pizza! <li>Remove the label, clean the bottle and let it dry <li>When the mold is completely dry, place the bottle inside (see pictures) <li>Put the mold and bottle in a kiln I used this simple firing program: (temperatures in ° C) <table border="1" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"> <tr bgcolor="#d0d0d0"><td>Step</td><td>Ramp rate</td><td>Temp. ° C</td><td>Hold time</td></tr> <tr><td>1</td><td>260</td><td>600</td><td>10 min.</td></tr> <tr><td>2</td><td>130</td><td>700</td><td>20 min.</td></tr> <tr><td>3</td><td>Full</td><td>800</td><td>5 min.</td></tr> </table> <li>After firing, let the kiln cool down to room temperature - do not open it before <li>Follow safety instructions that came with your kiln <h4>Important Notes</h4> <ul> <li>Firing scheme may need to be adjusted depending on bottle type/size and kiln type <li>It is crucial that your plaster mold is completely dry, so let it air out for several days or use an oven <li>Some people claim that a slumping mold should be made with special materials like silica and plaster, but I used simple fine plaster and achieved excellent results - the mold does not crack, glass does not stick to it, and it can be reused many times without needing kiln wash <li>For reference: I use a Paragon SC-2 mini kiln and Belgian 25 cl. beer bottles (Leffe, Grimbergen, etc.) <p>All parts are printable on small-platform printers with no need for supports. Enjoy!
