Beer Bottle Capper

Beer Bottle Capper

thingiverse

This is a capper for standard beer bottle caps. It should work on any non-twist-off beer bottle. The design was inspired by the capper described in this article, http://makezine.com/2011/09/13/tool-review-drill-press-bottle-capper/. To use, place your bottle under a drill press with a cap already on it. Then put the capper on top of the cap and press down with the drill press. Essentially, you are using the drill press as an arbor press. If the size is correct, you will feel a satisfying pop, and the cap will hit the bottom of the bottle's rim just below the lip of the cup. It requires relatively little force. If you worry about possibly breaking the beer bottle, the capper might be too small. Two files are provided: BeerCapper_Final and BeerCapper_Final_oversized. BeerCapper_Final is designed at dimensions that should be sufficient. At the base of the cup, it's 28mm in diameter; at the rim, it's 29mm. On the other hand, BeerCapper_Final_oversized features the same design but with the diameters increased by 1mm. I ended up using this one due to my printer's tendency to print IDs on the small side. SolidWorks files are available for downloading.
