Beefed up prop guard for 5 inch props
thingiverse
I designed this for multi-rotors that use five-inch props or smaller. The 250mm size is perfect. I strengthened the prop guards a bit. I print them in PETG, my new favorite filament type, and they work incredibly well. Normally, I don't use prop guards, but it helps when I'm teaching friends who are just learning to fly, or if I'm flying near obstacles like trees. PETG makes these very flexible yet sturdy enough, and the extra reinforcement adds only a few grams to the original. The arms are a bit thicker, with an added middle-ring and some thinner arms for stability. The screw holes might need to be enlarged slightly (a hobby knife works well without compromising structural integrity), but they fit standard 16mmx19mm motor mounting holes perfectly. UPDATE: Seems that two of my slicer suites leave out part of the thin wall, so I made it a bit thicker and added some holes to reduce the weight. I haven't tried this one yet, let me know what you think! Thanks to ppoinha for the original design.
