Summary Create Your Bee Escape Board for Your Hive. Instructions This is used to create a bee escape board. Edging on your board should be about 1/2" (12 mm) so the bee escape doesn't rest on the hive box below it. You decide how to use it. Four of them can be printed and positioned in the center of your board to make an 8-way round bee escape or put them in the corners of the board. For my bee escape board, I printed four of them and placed one in each corner. 8-Way Round Bee Escape - Cut a 3-4 inch hole in the center of your board. Center the four escapes over the hole and attach the escapes to the bottom of the escape board with screws. Corner Escape - Cut a hole in each corner where you're attaching an escape. Attach the escape with a screw. To use the board, place it facing down beneath the honey super in your hive. After a day or two, most bees should leave out of the honey super and be unable to find their way back into it. Note: I may not try this until September, so I don't know how well it works.
