Bedroom Light (Ikea Lampan recycle)
prusaprinters

I was bored by the two ikea LAMPAN lights I had in my bedroom, so I took them apart and recycled the light fitting with wire and switch to a new light design. The Lampan shade can be converted into a covered box, see this design. The design was made with FDM printing in mind (no supports needed).

I printed 3 variants for the light shade for now, more shades might be added on request.

The light shades are printed using prusaslicer, where you can specify a part of the model to be printed with different settings. This is important for the print to succeed, because the lower part that goes into the base needs to be printed with 3 perimeters to keep it sturdy enough, whereas the upper part needs to have a single perimeter for optimal translucency.

See the .3mf files to find the optimal settings (prusaslicer 2.3) (prints were made on an original Prusa mk3s).

For the base I used 0.4mm nozzle, 0.3mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 20% infill. The base has a modeled 'brim' attached to the outer shell as otherwise it would slightly lift. I modelled this brim as I wanted it at the inside of the outer shell to prevent visible damage when taking it off. To take off the brim, use a sharp knife after pushing the brim in and out a couple of times to weaken the connection to the outer shell.
print time: approx. 3h

For the shades:
no top and no bottom infill
the lower 11.9mm: (that goes into the base): 3 perimeters
the upper part: 1 perimeter
print time approx. 2h30
