This is a scale model of the legendary jet from the 70s, instantly recognizable for its cameo in the James Bond film "Octopussy" where it's seen soaring through an aircraft hangar. I created this 3D model using Fusion 360, carefully recreating every dimension, including wing thickness and other details, to ensure accuracy. The wing profile is meticulously crafted to reflect real-world designs, even incorporating washout for added realism. The Fusion 360 model will soon be used to build an electric-powered RC version featuring retractable gear and flaps. STL files are now ready for printing without support, utilizing a Prusa i3 Mk3 printer with PLA at 0.15mm layer height and adhering parts with superglue after printing. There are two versions of the aircraft available: "Bede5_AircraftforStand_RTP.stl" features a hole in the bottom for a stand, allowing the model to be rotated freely. Printing STL files at 100% yields a model with a 210mm wingspan, equivalent to about 1:25 scale of the real BD-5J with its 17ft wingspan. The fuselage measures 155mm long. Following an initial print defect discovered on February 10, 2018, I revised the STL files to ensure a minimum wall thickness of 0.8mm in the nozzle area. On February 25, 2018, all new STL files were uploaded, featuring NACA ducts and alignment pins for improved accuracy, along with corrected shapes for the elevator, vertical stabilizer, and rounded wingtips.
