Bed Spring Cam
prusaprinters

This is a cam used to form a spring based shock for the bed on an Ender 3 printer. The idea is to fit two of these per spring so that they constrain the motion of the spring to only vertical motion and a limit amount of vertical travel. They should be set so that just a couple layers of the lobes sit into the receiving holes on the opposing cam at full extension. I opted to lock these to a particular height on my machine in order to shift bed leveling from a physical process to digital while retaining the vibration dampening of the springs. There's no reason you couldn't use them with adjuster knobs if you prefer physically leveling the bed but another design that allows more vertical motion may be better fit for that.

Care should be taken when printing since the tolerances get kind of tight at parts. I was still getting used to FreeCAD when designing these and really had only a vague sense of tolerances from past woodworking and automotive experience. It should be noted in order to accommodate the bed heater wire guide on my Ender 3 V2, I had to lightly sand one of the cams to fit snugly into the holster as a press fit.
