Bed Mounted Clip
thingiverse
I built my dial caliper mount and quickly discovered that I could stash even more essentials on my workbench without cluttering my desk with those annoying drawers. The clip is only .4 inches thick, but you can easily modify the inventor ipt file to suit your needs. Here's a rundown of how I designed this nifty tool: 1. First, I measured the width of the bed's bar - it turned out to be 3.6 inches. 2. Next, I created a rectangle with two arcs perpendicular to it and extruded it to the desired width of the inside of the clip plus an extra 1/8 inch (or twice as thick as you want the slot's walls to be). 3. To make the slot, I started by extruding a cube, then punched out the hole, and finally cleared out some space for things to clip in. 4. Finally, I added some fillets to give it a sleek finish.
