Manual bed levelling on the Startt 3D printer is cumbersome due to the provided thumbwheels. Online forums reveal several workarounds, but most standard thumbwheels are too wide for these compact printers and interfere with the build plate Y-Carriage. To overcome this challenge, I designed a custom-made long and slender thumbwheel specifically tailored for the Startt 3D printer as well as other kit printers on the market. In addition to the thumbwheel design, an alignment washer is included. It's placed at the bottom of each bed plate spring to ensure precise positioning. Before assembling the bed plate onto the Y-Carriage, make sure that all four machine screws are securely fastened with M3 nuts and a small amount of Loctite. The thumbwheel features built-in clearance, so apply a tiny drop of CA glue to the nut before inserting it into the thumbwheel. Allow the adhesive to dry thoroughly before use.
