Bed Leveling Helper for Geeetech® Prusa I3 Pro B ACRYLIC version
thingiverse
Since I started using this fantastic printer, I've quickly discovered several areas that need improvement. One major issue is the way bed leveling is currently done: a bolt passes through the bed and its holder, which is secured with a winged nut. The main problem with this approach is that it requires two hands to perform. One hand needs to block one part while the other hand screws in the other, but after some time, friction can be lost. Another significant problem is that there's no space underneath the plate on the backside to insert your hands and screw in the winged nut. As a result, you're forced to use your hand (if it fits) to block it, while using a hex key to tighten the bolt. That's why I came up with a solution: a printed helper that encloses a constrained M3 nut! Just print four of these helpers and attach them to the angles of the bed holder. Suddenly, fine-calibrating the leveling process is a breeze! One potential drawback (although it might not be an issue if done correctly) is that you'll lose the "springiness" of the bed, which is caused by low friction in the original system.
