This is a simple guide to help level your 3D printer's bed. Adjust the scale to fit your printer's bed perfectly. If the print looks squished, your bed is too low. If it appears squiggly, your bed is too high. Make adjustments as needed. Updated in version 2, the model is now scaled at 100mm x 100mm x 0.1mm. Each line is precisely 1mm thick. To save time, I removed the center of the square since the corners are what matter most. When scaling this model to match your bed size, be sure to adjust the z scale to match your layer height. If it's 0.4mm, multiply by 400%. If it's 0.175mm, multiply by 175%. If your bed is 150mm x 200mm, you'd scale the object by 150% and 200%. If your bed is 200mm x 126mm, you'd scale the object by 200% and 126%. Scaling becomes extremely easy with this model. How I Designed It I used Inkscape to create and dimension the shape. First, draw a dimensioned square. Set the stroke width to 0.2mm and leave it unfilled. Next, draw numerous horizontal lines with a stroke width of 0.2mm. Use the Align/Distribute option to evenly space them across the square. Group these elements together and duplicate them. Then, rotate each one by 45 degrees, followed by -45 degrees. Convert everything to paths using the Stroke to Path function. Combine all the elements. Save the file as a plain SVG. Import the SVG into Blender. Make sure the sizing is correct in the 'N' menu. Convert it to a mesh. Edit and extrude it to 0.2mm tall. Add a cube, scale it to fit the outer square. Use Boolean modification to intersect the grid with the cube. Perform normal Blender operations for mesh cleanup (limited dissolve, remove double vertices, limited dissolve, set face normals outside, manual cleanup if necessary). Export the file as an STL.
