I designed thumbwheels with rounded knurls specifically for hot bed-levelling. These fit perfectly onto the knurled wheel of my Y-tensioner from thing:3253243 and thing:3045678. I made two versions available, each suitable for a different type of nut - one for wing nuts and another for standard hex nuts.
