Bed corner protector for the IKEA Malm bedframe
thingiverse
We've consistently battered our shins against the pointed corner of our Malm IKEA bed. In the past, I attached a tennis ball to it, but this solution looks more sophisticated. There are two STL files available - one for the left and one for the right corner. I utilized soft TPU filament with 0.8 mm wall thickness to create a flexible sphere. The infill setting is crucial for the ball's suppleness. Twenty percent infill produced a ball as hard as stone, while zero percent infill (empty interior) felt a tad too soft. Ultimately, I settled on two percent infill, which provides just enough support. The final three images show the inside with 0%, 2%, and twenty percent infill. I'll experiment with zero percent infill but use 2 mm wall thickness to match the tennis ball design. I've also included GCODE files for 0%, 2%, and twenty percent infill.
