2023 Update: Sorry but I have decided to discontinue this project. If you want a more up to date IIDX controller to make, check out my new project: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6050384 I will however leave this on Thingverse for legacy support. 3D printable case for making a Beatmania IIDX controller with a functioning turntable. This is a modular design with parts suitable to be printed by most 3D printers. I do recommend having at least 180x180mm print bed for this project. All parts are designed to be printed easy without need of support material. You may use bigger nozzle to speed up the process. This case is for use with original Sanwa buttons or Chinese clones. Turntable is designed to be used with the most common optical rotary encoders you can find on places like Aliexpress. I attached a picture of what kind of encoder it is. I will try keeping the part list link below updated. There are multiple customization options available. Button panel comes in 2 (default) 3 or 4 extra button configuration. Also options for mounting Neutrik USB panel mount for detachable usb cable. or hardwired (default). You can also make it 2p side by mirroring the case_buttons and case_turntable parts. Assembly is easy. attach the case and center parts together using 2x m8 80mm bolt and nuts. Control panel is kept in place by the button screws. Turntable control panel part must be fasten by 4x m3 10-12mm screws. Follow the text file for guidance of turntable assembly. Back cover are hold in place by 4x m3 10mm screws on each panel (8 screws in total). There are options available for with or without mounting holes for feet that requires nut and bolts. Use the one without if you are planning to use something like rubber adhesive feet. The center spacing part also serves a purpose of hiding wires. Finally connect everything together to a micro controller and firmware of your choice. There is great information on this wiki link where you can find resources needed for this build like buttons, switches, micro controllers and firmware. https://rhythm-cons.wiki/w/Beatmania_IIDX You may have to improvise on certain parts of the build. Like making your own mounting solutions for whatever micro controller board you are going to use. in my example I used a Arduino pro micro connected to screw terminals, and then mounted it inside the case by using mounting tape. Turntable side that touches the felt may need to be smooth. I printed my parts on PEI sheet in order to achieve this. You may try sanding or apply a layer of some material with smooth texture. If you want to add some kind of grip material to the turntable, there is an included cutting guide you can print to make the cutting easier. Depending of what buttons you are using, some Chinese clones tend to be longer than Sanwas. so you might need to use Angle L Type crimp connectors on the led connectors in order to fit inside the case. I'm open for suggestions of changes or other customization options.
