I've abandoned this project, leaving the files up for anyone who wants to use them. The base frame is solid, but I'm not happy with the phone holder and lens holder - they need work. I lost interest in perfecting the design, despite seeing potential. This is my take on the Beast Grip, inspired by versions found online that either used threaded rods or didn't quite fit what I was looking for. My version uses 3D printed parts, aluminium linkages from RC rock crawlers, and a budget-friendly clip-on 2x lens. Here are the specific components I used: * 2 x Aluminium Linkage Rods, M3 x 6mm x 95mm (vertical rods that hold the lens carrier) * 2 x Aluminium Linkage Rods, M3 x 6mm x 105mm (horizontal rods that hold the phone clamp) * 1 x Aukey 2x Telephoto clip-on lens The rods I chose had slightly different outer diameters. The 95mm rod measured 6.01mm, while the 105mm rod was 5.84mm. The design takes these differences into account and may require some drilling or sanding to fit your parts. The lens carrier is designed specifically for a clip-in lens (see my make), but you can easily create a different lens carrier by following the same dimensions: 6mm holes with an 80mm center-to-center spacing. This flexibility allows you to design anything you want. Additionally, using longer horizontal rods will give you more room to accommodate phones of different sizes. My current design holds my OnePlus One (5.5" phone) with plenty of space for larger or smaller devices, including iPhones and iPhone Pluses. This is the first version of the design, and I'm still working on revising the phone clamp to use a spring-loaded mechanism. I'm also looking to make the lens carrier more universal by clamping onto a threaded fitting instead of relying on a clip-in design. The current build should print without supports if you lay it out thoughtfully on your build platform.
